Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Climate Resources Exchange International (CRX) from Singapore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to lead carbon-related projects in Malaysia. This partnership aims to harness the strengths of both countries to tackle urgent climate issues effectively.
The MoU was signed by UTM’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Fauzi, and CRX’s CEO, Mr Vinod Kesava, in late March. This partnership is anticipated to transform Malaysia’s carbon economy. The partnership is expected to boost the carbon economies of both.
Mr. Vinod Kesava said, “It is our great privilege and honor to collaborate with UTM in addressing the climate emergency and provide credible and pragmatic solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Carbon finance is a critical element in developing robust projects with clear and transparent methodologies for monitoring, reporting, and verification. This cooperation paves the roadmap forward for accelerating initiatives created by putting our heads together and working as one.”
Partnering with a global brand brings notable recognition to the Malaysian University. CRX’s expertise in international carbon trading opens up numerous opportunities for UTM to participate in carbon credit projects.
This collaboration also exposes the institution to industry stakeholders and government agencies in Malaysia.
