To support Azerbaijan’s government agencies in aligning with global climate goals, the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has launched an extensive training program aimed at enhancing sustainability competencies.
The program, which ran from July 8 to 26th, combined online training sessions with live information-sharing modules.
The program aimed to familiarize various government entities with the COP process and ensure their effective participation in the event. Additionally, it sought to raise awareness and enhance the sustainability capacities of these agencies.
The program addressed a broad spectrum of areas, including climate, sustainability, governance, and social aspects, with tailored sessions for representatives from eight government agencies.
This comprehensive approach aimed to deepen understanding of climate-related issues and foster the development of effective response strategies.
It was attended by a total of 49 agencies from various sectors, including transportation, energy, climate and emergencies, climate finance and economics, food security and agriculture, healthcare, tourism, migration, youth, and education.

In addition to the training sessions, the program initiated a series of information-sharing sessions with the COP29 Organising Committee.
These sessions explored key focus areas of climate action, the thematic days of COP29, the agenda of the COP29 Azerbaijan Presidency, and the portfolio of new initiatives.
The climate summit is scheduled to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to November 22, 2024.
