As revealed by the Observer, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak attended a protest with a group known for spreading climate change conspiracy theories and opposing net zero efforts. Farmers and wildlife groups criticized him for “pandering to extremists”, urging him to prioritize reason over conspiracy theories.
Sunak aims to bolster his party’s rural support, as many countryside seats are at risk in the upcoming election. He recently addressed the National Farmers’ Union, expressing support.

Sunak joined a protest against the Welsh government’s proposed payment scheme alongside farmer Gareth Wyn Jones, who leads the “No Farmers No Food” campaign.
This campaign, led by James Melville, opposes net zero and spreads climate change conspiracy theories.
The group’s X account shared a conspiracy theory about the World Economic Forum (WEF) allegedly planning to make people eat bugs to achieve net zero.
They retweeted a post from former LBC host Maajid Nawaz that claimed,
“Farmers stand between us and WEF’s desire for us to EAT BUGS, own nothing and be happy.” Melville also shared a post with the conspiracist claim which stated: “Between Bill Gates, the CCP & the WEF, we’re going to have no private farmland left. They want you eating bugs.”
