Britain’s Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) has announced its planned industry manifesto for 2024 ahead of the general elections. According to Energy Live News, the manifesto provides the framework for a “once-in-a-generation” nuclear program.
The report mentions that the manifesto lists five key actions for Members of the Parliament. The MPs elected on July 4th can follow these five actions to support the nuclear industry in parliamentary discussions and elections.
The main points in the Association’s manifesto include developing Sizewell C, a nuclear power station, to reach a final investment decision.
It is also considering assembling a fleet of small modular reactors (SMRs) and identifying an appropriate location for a geological disposal facility.

The manifesto highlights the opportunity for a significant nuclear-building initiative to enhance nuclear expertise and rejuvenate strategic industrial abilities. It intends to guarantee that the industry is well-positioned to contribute to achieving net zero, energy security, and community benefit nationwide.
According to the report by Energy Live News, Tom Greatrex, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Industry Association, said, “Big decisions on new nuclear projects are needed as a matter of urgency during the next Parliament to ensure we deliver clean power for net zero, energy security and jobs for the future.
“Members of the next Parliament will have some crucial decisions to take to ensure that the massive economic, environmental and energy security opportunities for the UK are realized”, he added.
