Juneau, Alaska, is addressing the impact of tourism-related emissions on its environment with a distinctive initiative.

The Alaska Carbon Reduction Fund, formerly the Juneau Carbon Offset Fund, allows tourists to contribute towards reducing carbon emissions by paying a few dollars, with the funds directed to installing heat pumps for local residents.
