Amazon announced that it invested in 100 new solar and wind energy projects in 2023. This makes Amazon the largest purchaser of renewable energy in the world for the fourth consecutive year.
It has claimed that this purchase increases its clean energy capacity to more than 77000 GWh per annum. This brings hope for Amazon to reach its goals of fueling operations through 100% attribution to renewable energy by 2025.
The online retail giant has also said that 90% of its operations in 2023 were powered by renewable energy.
Amazon has significantly expanded its renewable energy portfolio, reaching more than 500 projects globally over the past year.
The company’s investments include new projects in various US states, Canada, Brazil, and European countries such as Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
Additionally, Amazon added 13 projects in the Asia Pacific region, marking its entry into South Korea and the establishment of two wind farms in China.
