Japanese cardboard manufacturer Rengo is set to invest $133 million to produce raw materials for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) from construction waste by 2027.Â
This move comes as Japan aims to increase SAF usage to 10% of aviation fuel by 2030, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions in air travel.
Rengo’s plan involves converting construction waste into ethanol, a crucial step toward creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly aviation sector.
This initiative contributes to the stability of SAF procurement networks and promotes resource efficiency by repurposing waste materials for critical applications in the transportation industry.
