Plenitude has expanded its renewable energy portfolio in Spain to over 400 MW, pushing it to almost 950 MW. This is more than double the company’s renewable energy capacity in the country as of 2023. The expansion is part of Plenitude’s broader strategy to strengthen the renewable presence locally and globally.
Key Projects: Caparacena and More
A major milestone in this growth is the completion of the 150 MW Caparacena project in Granada. The project includes three photovoltaic plants, of which almost all have nearly 50 MW in capacity. Plenitude completed a 400 kV substation and a general 200 kV substation that connected the plants to the grid.
In addition to Caparacena, Plenitude has completed nearly 250 MW of solar projects in Spain, including plants in Renopool (Extremadura) and Guillena (Andalusia). These projects are integral to the company’s ongoing efforts to scale up renewable energy production in Spain.
Reaching the 4GW Global Target for 2024
Thanks to these expansions, Plenitude has successfully achieved its 2024 goal of reaching 4 GW of installed renewable capacity worldwide. The company’s renewable projects in Spain were key to reaching this target, with more projects currently under development.
Mariangiola Mollicone, Head of Western Europe Renewables and Managing Director of Plenitude in Spain, said, “During 2024 Plenitude has registered significant organic growth in Spain with the completion of several renewable projects realized also thanks to the good relationships we have developed locally.
She added, “Spain is a strategic country for our company and we want to have a positive impact in the areas where we operate, not only economically, but also on the communities that host us”

Plenitude is also making progress on its future projects in Spain. The company is under construction of about nearly 820 MW of solar plants and aspires to finish between 2025 and 2026. These pipelines come in the longer term strategy set for the extension of renewable capacity for the firm both in Spain and worldwide.
