Epson, a leading technology company, has joined forces with Earth Hour, marking its first international corporate support for the global environmental movement.Â
Earth Hour, initiated by WWF in 2007, encourages individuals worldwide to turn off lights for an hour every March, symbolizing environmental solidarity. With participation in over 190 countries, Earth Hour amassed over 410,000 hours of pledged action in 2023.
As part of the partnership, Epson and Earth Hour urge individuals to contribute to Earth Hour 2024’s “Hour Bank,” which tallies positive environmental actions. Both companies offer energy-saving tips in over 26 languages on their websites. Epson is leveraging its global sales network to promote energy-saving practices in corporate settings.
Yasunori Ogawa, global president of Epson, emphasized the significance of collective action, stating, “Even small actions can make a big difference if enough people participate.”
Epson, committed to achieving carbon negativity and eliminating non-renewable resources, aims to realize its Environmental Vision 2050. Initiatives include transitioning to 100% renewable electricity at all sites and developing energy-efficient products and services.
The partnership signifies Epson and Earth Hour’s commitment to environmental stewardship and encourages global participation in energy-saving efforts.
Yves Calmette, senior director of Brand and Network Communications for Earth Hour International, highlighted the importance of collective action in making Earth Hour impactful, stating, “Earth Hour isn’t just about acknowledging the problem, it’s about celebrating the solutions.”
