Google has made its biggest deal ever to buy power from offshore wind projects near the Netherlands.
This move is part of Google’s efforts to use more clean energy and achieve its climate goals. Renewable power projects are now often linked to long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to guarantee revenue, and companies like Google want to secure a clean power supply to meet their environmental targets.
Matt Brittin, President of Google in EMEA said, “Our ambition to operate on carbon-free energy around the clock by 2030 requires clean energy solutions in every grid where we operate.”
Google has made its biggest deal for offshore wind power yet. They will be getting 478 megawatts (MW) from two new wind farms created by Crosswind & Ecowende Consortia. These are partnerships between energy companies Shell and Dutch utility Eneco.
