UBS, the investment banking group, has appointed Jack Collings as the head of sustainability and climate risk for Asia Pacific (APAC). Collings transitions into this role from his position as head of sustainability risk at Credit Suisse, which was acquired by UBS a year ago. He will be stationed in Singapore.
Appointment Details
Jack Collings assumes the role previously held by Julie Suh, who has transitioned to a new position within UBS’ global wealth management team in APAC. Collings will report to Liselotte Arni, UBS’ global head of sustainability and climate risk, based in Zurich.
UBS’ Sustainability Commitment
UBS has pledged to achieve net zero emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2050. However, recent reports questioned the bank’s stance on coal financing, following Bloomberg’s revelation that UBS would backtrack on plans to phase out financing for fossil fuel, previously supported by Credit Suisse.
Career Background
Collings brings a wealth of experience to his new role, including stints at Singapore’s finance regulator Monetary Authority of Singapore, where he served as assistant director of environmental risk management. He also spent nine years at HSBC, with his last role being senior sustainability risk manager based in London.
Collings’ appointment underscores UBS’ ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate risk management, amid broader industry discussions on environmental responsibility and financial sector practices.
