Luxcara selects Chinese turbines for offshore wind farm project
Luxcara, an independent German asset manager for clean energy infrastructure projects, announced that it has signed a “preferred turbine supplier”.
The asset manager has signed the supplier agreement with Ming Yang Smart Energy for the Waterkant offshore wind project located in the German North Sea.
The agreement between Luxcara and the turbine supplier was signed after “an international tender and extensive due diligence exercise”.
The agreement comprises 16 of the most powerful offshore turbines, each with a capacity of 18.5 MW, which will be installed in 2028.
The turbines ordered by Luxcara have a rotor diameter of 260 metres and have the capacity to generate clean electricity to power around 400,000 households.

Holger Matthiesen, Project Director at Luxcara and Managing Director of the project company Waterkant Energy, said, “By deciding on the world’s most powerful offshore wind turbine, we will be able to expedite Germany’s energy transition while fostering much-needed competition in the industry.”
He added, “In any case, management, operation and control of the Waterkant wind farm will remain entirely in the hands of an independent German company.”
The project will be part of a project portfolio that Luxcara provides guidance on for institutional investors. Pension funds from Germany, broader Europe, and overseas are among the investors, thus generating a beneficial process through the investment of retirement funds for a brighter future for the public and the succeeding generation.
