Downey Ridge Environmental Company and BP have partnered to advance waste-to-energy conversion by transforming brown grease waste into biofuel feedstock for sustainable energy production.
As part of the agreement, BP will finance Greasezilla’s production facility expansion, which will make it easier to collect and turn waste brown grease into feedstock for biofuels.
The waste gathered from commercial kitchens and industrial operations will support the markets for sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel.
Under this partnership, BP will invest up to $5 million per location in Greasezilla’s technology to create about 40 new FOG (fats, oils, and grease) receiving stations.

Grease trap waste has been disposed of in landfills, posing environmental hazards.
Greasezilla’s technology addresses this problem by turning waste into feedstock for biofuel, lessening its environmental impact, and easing the overflow of landfills.
Through their agreement, the two companies hope to reduce landfill tipping fees and methane emissions associated with removing brown grease from landfills.
This collaboration emphasizes efficiency and environmental stewardship and supports the sustainability goals of both companies through innovative energy solutions.
Nigel Dunn, Senior Vice president, biofuels growth at bp said, “Bioenergy is one of bp’s transition growth engines and we aim to increase our production of biofuels like SAF.
He added, “Working with Greasezilla and their innovative technology helps provide the low carbon feedstock for processing in our refineries and meets the biofuels needs our customers increasingly want.”

Greasezilla will also profit from BP’s extensive global network for the distribution of biofuels, and BP will have access to lower carbon feedstock to supply the growing demand for SAF.
The first investment made by BP will help Greasezilla grow and be integrated into BP’s supply chain.
Subsequent stages of the collaboration will concentrate on augmenting the manufacturing capability and propelling technological advancements for improved effectiveness and ecological advantages.
