Today, BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) unveiled its latest offering, the BNP Paribas Global Net Zero Transition Equity fund, designed to provide investors with exposure to a decarbonization and sustainable investment-focused strategy. This active fund, classified as Article 8 under the EU’s SFDR regulation, aims to construct a high-conviction portfolio from over 1,000 global companies committed to achieving net zero emissions.
The fund’s investment universe is carefully diversified across sectors, regions, and market caps to reduce industry risk compared to the benchmark. BNPP AM’s proprietary net zero alignment framework guides stock selection for the fund, ensuring a robust approach to sustainability.
Notably, the fund distinguishes itself by incorporating a “Just Transition” lens, acknowledging the social implications of transitioning to a low-carbon economy. Jane Ambachtsheer, Global Head of Sustainability at BNPP AM, emphasized the importance of this approach, highlighting the potential for job creation and the need for fairness and inclusivity throughout the transition.
This launch comes on the heels of BNPP AM’s January release of its Global Sustainability Strategy (GSS), which outlined ambitions to expand sustainable and impact investment solutions across various themes, including climate and economic equality. The firm’s net zero roadmap, unveiled in 2022, sets ambitious targets for aligning investments with net zero goals by 2030 and 2040.
Nadia Grant, Head of Global Equities at BNPP AM and Portfolio Manager of the BNP Paribas Global Net Zero Transition Equity fund, emphasized the role of investments in driving the transition to net zero. By focusing on companies providing and adopting decarbonization solutions, the fund aims to align with BNPP AM’s net zero commitments while leveraging expertise in social and environmental engagement.
In summary, BNPP AM’s launch of the BNP Paribas Global Net Zero Transition Equity fund reflects a proactive stance towards sustainable investing, blending financial objectives with environmental and social considerations.
