The bank initiated its ambitious $10 million Net-Zero Research Fund in 2021 as part of its Climate Commitments. Over the past three years, it has collaborated with leading research and academic institutions to fund climate mitigation and sustainability research.
Furthermore, Scotiabank has dedicated CAD $3 million to more than 30 registered charities and non-profits in the climate sector.
Partner organizations seeking funding through the Scotiabank NZRF must be registered as charities or non-profits in their respective jurisdictions.
Scotiabank established the NZRF to help move towards a net-zero global economy by offering climate-related financing to clients in various sectors, including those with high carbon emissions.
The bank’s main goal is to reach net zero by collaborating with clients to achieve net-zero financed emissions by 2050. Additionally, the company actively works to reduce emissions in its operations.
