PaxOcean has announced a shipbuilding contract with a known European shipowner to build two Offshore Construction Vessels (OCVs). These ships are of great significance to both traditional and renewable businesses involved in offshore energy. The owner has secured options for two units and will receive all the vessels by 2027.
Advanced Features for Versatile Offshore Operations
The length of each vessel will be 123 meters. They will be highly capable vessels for offshore work, and boast a 1,750 square meter cargo deck. The vessels will feature a 250-ton offshore crane, DP2 dynamic positioning, and can accommodate up to 123 personnel. Some of the notable features include full beam hangar capacity that houses two work-class ROVs, a 1000 kWh battery energy storage system, and provisions for future carousel installation and moonpool operations.
Sustainable Designs
In sync with the global intention in promoting sustainable energy solutions, it would be methanol ready ships, meaning that this would predispose them as assets future proof for an eventual energy transition offshore. This has versatility in application and is thus suitable for a wide variety of applications off-shore, such as subsea construction, ROV support, and IMR activities.
