Seaboard Marine launched its newest LNG-powered V-Class containership, Seaboard Verde, a ship developed to enable cleaner shipping practices. Seaboard Verde, part of Seaboard Marine’s expanding LNG-fueled vessel fleet, helps strengthen its approach toward a less emissions-intensive fleet and operation.
Key Specifications and Route Details
The 247.9 meter-long vessel Seaboard Verde can accommodate up to 3,500 TEU and has over 1,000 refrigerated container plugs. Thus, the vessel is highly capable of serving diverse shipping needs. The key ports the vessel would have to cover across the Americas are Moin, Costa Rica; Colon, Panama; Kingston, Jamaica; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Philadelphia and Brooklyn in the US.
Taizhou Sanfu Shipbuilding will deliver Seaboard Verde in March 2025, making it the third of eight LNG-powered vessels joining Seaboard Marine’s fleet.
A Step Towards Cleaner Shipping
Seaboard Verde is now the third successive delivery of Seaboard Voyager and Seaboard Victory. Seaboard Marine delivered these LNG-powered vessels in August and November 2024, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fuels. Therefore, this particular investment by Seaboard Marine in their LNG-powered vessel is a mark of the company’s emphasis on greener shipping practices and a call to further strive for better and improved environmental sustainability across all business operations.

Enhanced LNG-Fleet by Seaboard Marine
Aside from its new LNG-powered vessels, 2023 was a remarkable year for Seaboard Marine with the purchase of the world’s first containership ever to be converted for operation both on LNG and diesel. It represents another move closer to green shipping, with further LNG-powered vessels to add, Seaboard Marine is expecting to see a total of nine LNG-powered vessels by the end of 2025.
Such efforts are reflective of the broader trend within the shipping industry to seek sustainable fuel solutions. With its continuous fleet modernization process using green technologies, Seaboard Marine takes the lead in advancing the sustainability goals of the industry with increased demand for cleaner shipping.
