The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced $173,500 in clean energy project grants for two rural businesses in Arkansas.
USDA said that the grant will help businesses “lower their energy costs, generate new income, and strengthen the resilience of their operations.” This grant has been partially funded by Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and aims to reduce fossil fuels and wastage in agriculture.
According to a USDA Rural Development news release, the first project is at Hunter’s Refuge, a sporting goods outlet, which will invest $79,499 in the installation of a 96-kilowatt solar array that is expected to save $14,790 annually and 141,236-kilowatt hours of electricity per annum.
The other project is Brian Stoner Farms, which has an investment of $94,008 in a 144-kilowatt solar system for its agricultural operations. It is anticipated that this investment will produce 219,401 kilowatt hours of electricity per year and save $17,677 annually, the USDA said.
