According to a press release by GE Vernova, an energy equipment manufacturing company, the company has signed an agreement with Kalyon PV to supply its trademark FLEXINVERTER solar power station and design and engineering services to Kalyon PV in Turkey.
According to the release, GE Vernova’s solar power station will supply power to Kalyon Enerji’s 157 megawatts (MW) solar photovoltaics (PV) factory. This provision places Kalyon among the first companies in Turkey “to produce solar panels using 100% renewable electricity when commissioned”, the release mentions.
In the release, Dr. Murtaza Ata, a Board Member of Kalyon PV, said, “We are proud to be a driving force behind Turkey’s transition to clean energy. By investing in solar panel manufacturing and providing these solar panels to large-scale solar power plants, we’re not only providing sustainable energy solutions but also creating jobs and contributing to Turkey’s energy independence.”

The partnership is built on an existing relationship and uses the achievements of Kalyon Enerji’s 1,347 MWp/1,000 MWe Karapinar solar power plant in the Konya Karapinar province, which employed GE Vernova’s FLEXINVERTERTM solar technology.
The Karapinar facility was built in 2023 and became the biggest solar power plant in Turkey. This initiative was included in the initial Turkish solar YEKA GES auction, introduced in 2017 by the Turkish Ministry of Energy as part of the, which aims to facilitate the creation of large solar and wind farms.
The renewable energy sector in Turkey is expanding rapidly. It is driven by a growing demand for electricity while also adhering to a commitment to reduce CO2 emissions, making solar power the optimal choice.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Turkey aims to commission an impressive capacity of 10 GW of solar power between 2017-2027.
To aid the transition to solar power, GE Vernova is “uniquely positioned” to deploy its Battery Energy Storage Solution FLEXRESERVOIR, which will be accompanied by funds to support the country’s journey with upcoming renewable energy projects that use storage.
