Global energy technology leader SLB recently completed the commissioning of its modular carbon capture plant at Twence’s waste-to-energy facility in Hengelo, Netherlands. This is one of the efforts of SLB Capturi towards sustainable solutions for industries looking at reducing carbon emissions.
Capacity and Application
The new carbon capture plant captures up to 100,000 metric tons of CO2 yearly. The facility will capture carbon dioxide for its use in multiple industries, namely the horticulture and food and beverage sectors. This captured CO2 will make a very crucial resource for such industries while still helping to reduce the number of emissions drastically.
Egil Fagerland, CEO of SLB Capturi, expressed his pride in the collaboration with Twence, stating, “We are extremely proud of our collaboration with Twence to bring online the first modular carbon capture plant at a waste-to-energy facility.”
He added, “As pressure mounts for industrials to reduce emissions and meet net-zero targets, access to affordable, effective carbon capture technologies is more important than ever. We look forward to continuing our mission to enable access to the capture technologies needed to achieve CO2 emissions reduction impact at scale.”

Marc Kapteijn, the CEO of Twence, also expressed his enthusiasm about the successful completion of the new carbon capture plant. He called the project highly innovative and sustainable, highlighting the dedication of the team and strong collaboration with SLB Capturi. Kapteijn also said they would supply the first CO2 to the greenhouse horticulture sector in the spring. He stressed that the technology is key to Twence’s efforts to cut carbon emissions and meet their sustainability targets.
Modular Just Catch™ Design for Efficient Deployment
The plant utilizes SLB Capturi’s Just Catch™ design, a modular and standardized approach that minimizes installation time and onsite outfitting. This design offers a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy solution, making carbon capture more accessible and scalable for industries.
