Environmental experts, aspiring city planners, and students participated in a guided tour of Bhopal’s wetland on Sunday, on the occasion of World Wetlands Day.
The walk focused on the ecological and sociological importance of the Upper Lake, a key component of the Bhoj Wetland declared a Ramsar site in 2002.
Organized in collaboration with the MP State Wetland Authority and EPCO, the event aimed to enhance public connection with nature and promote the protection of the unique ecosystem.
Highlighting wetlands’ role in providing freshwater, regulating water, and supporting biodiversity, the program emphasized the significance of community involvement in conservation efforts.
The walk, starting from Koh-e-Fiza to the Khanugoan area, involved participants from various educational institutions including SPA, MANIT, Azim Premji University, NID, and Women Polytechnic, among others.
