In a significant uptick, India’s coal production witnessed a notable increase of 10.3% in January, reaching 99.73 million tonnes (MT) compared to the corresponding period last fiscal year.
According to a statement from the coal ministry, the overall coal production during the April-January period stood at 784.11 MT (Provisional), showcasing growth from 698.99 MT recorded in the same period of 2022-23.
Moreover, coal dispatches in January saw a surge, reaching 87.37 MT compared to 82.02 MT in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal year. The statement highlighted that as of January 31, coal companies held a stockpile of 70.37 MT, indicating an impressive annual growth rate of 47.85%.
Concurrently, the coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP) designated Domestic Coal Based (DCB) locations saw a significant increase to 36.16 MT on the same date, reflecting an annual growth rate of 15.26%.
