Emirates has become a member of the Solent Cluster, a cross-sector collaboration consisting of over 100 international organizations, manufacturers, engineering companies, regional businesses, and academic institutions.
The Solent Cluster aims to develop a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant with an estimated annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes by 2032.
If approved, the plant could significantly reduce emissions, producing fuel with 70% fewer emissions than fossil kerosene.
Emirates’ participation aligns with its long-term goal of securing UK-produced SAF and complements the airline’s initiatives, including recent demonstration flights using 100% SAF and expanded partnerships for SAF supply in Amsterdam, Singapore, and Dubai.
