In collaboration with conservation allies such as Entergy and NASA, Audubon Zoo is set to host “Party for the Planet: Spring into Action,” marking the commencement of Audubon’s series of initiatives dedicated to enhancing the well-being of nature and wildlife.
According to the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), accredited zoos and aquariums collectively invest $230 million in field conservation efforts, supporting projects benefiting over 800 species across 130 countries.
The AZA Conservation Grants Fund has allocated $7.7 million to over 400 projects worldwide. Audubon facilitates access to natural and restored green spaces for pollinating insects and birds.
During this event, visitors can obtain pollinator seeds to continue contributing positively to the environment.
Attendees can engage in various enjoyable activities to connect with the natural world, including presentations by a NASA Solar System Ambassador, workshops hosted by Waterwise, insights into the soon-to-reopen Audubon Insectarium, and more. Admission to this event is open and free to the public.
“When we provide opportunities to help people learn about sustainability and conservation, our surrounding communities benefit,” said Deanna Rodriguez, President and CEO of Entergy New Orleans.
“An important part of a clean energy future includes protecting our natural resources that exist today. That’s why we continue to partner with the Audubon Nature Institute to encourage everyone to help take care of our environment,” Rodriguez added.
This occasion marks the inaugural series of Earth Day-themed events by Audubon this spring. It is scheduled for Saturday, March 30th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center located at 11000 Lake Forest Boulevard, New Orleans.
